Abundance & Illusion
"Abundance & Illusion" is a series of mixed media works on paper that explores the idea of excess in both the manmade and natural world. Using symbols of self-indulgence, such as drunkenness, over-eating, & over-spending, I explore humanity's tendency towards excess. I combine images of excess in the natural world, such as clusters of clovers, flowers, & rocks, with images of excess in the manmade world, and idealized drawings of people (drawn from photographs of friends and myself on vacation) in order to decipher our relationships to the natural and manmade world.
